Kimball Cho, March 16th, 2023
This day has us wishing a very happy 50th birthday to Tim Kang aka our very own Kimball Cho
There are many who hold that the relationships Kimball Cho maintained between his team members, both CBI and FBI was integral to everyone’s success. Just because we didn’t see him smile doesn’t mean his strength and loyalty didn’t mean everything to those lucky enough to have his support. Tim Kang brought an energy to the role that worked well though all seven seasons of The Mentalist as he appeared in all 151 episodes. While you’d be hard-pressed to say Cho had steadying influence on Patrick Jane he did have the Mentalist’s trust, something very few people could say.
A native Californian, he is the only member of the cast that can say that. He is the eldest of three brothers. His education includes a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California and a Master of Fine Arts from Harvard. It was during this time he discovered his love of acting and the rest, as they say is history.
An actor’s actor, Tim added director and producer titles to his repertoire and has an extensive and varied filmography across film and TV starting in 2002, working consistently to the current day.
With his first feature film role in 2002, Tim’s extensive list of film and TV appearances include but are not limited to:
Two Week Notice
Rambo
A Wrinkle in Time
The Sopranos
Law & Order: (Criminal Intent and Trial by Jury)
Monk
The Mentalist
The Office
Criminal Minds
Lethal Weapon
Madam Secretary
Magnum PI (reboot)
Regardless of his role as Kimball Cho on The Mentalist or George Katsumoto on Magnum PI, he’ll always be Cho to the Mentalist fan base. This is the day to say “Happy Birthday” to Tim!
